Born in Konya in 1980, Assoc. After completing his primary and secondary education in Konya, Dr Murat URKAN completed his high school education at Bursa Işıklar Military High School.

In 1998, he started to Gülhane Military Medical Academy, Military Medicine Faculty.

He graduated from this faculty in 2004 as a medical doctor. Between 2004-2005, he worked as a general practitioner at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy and studied continental medicine at the Field Medical School in Samsun for three months.

Between 2005-2007, he served as a Flight Doctor at the 6th Main Jet Base (Balıkesir/Bandırma) of the Air Force Command.

He completed his General Surgery specialization training, which he started in GATA General Surgery Department in 2007, in 2012, and was appointed to Eskişehir Military Hospital as a General Surgery Specialist in the same year. Working in this hospital until August 2014, Assoc. Murat URKAN was appointed as a specialist physician to the Air Forces Command Logistics/Health Branch Directorate in August 2014.

In 2015, he was appointed as GATA Organ and Tissue Transplant Coordination Department Supervisor.

In 2015, Nevin Baykent earned a degree in the Turkish Surgical Association Board Exam, Health and Education Foundation Surgical Training Scholarship, and abroad education award.

Associate Professor Murat Urkan; Between 03.11.2018-03.05.2019, he took an active role in TR Akdeniz University Organ Transplant Center for 6 months and received the kidney transplant qualification certificate.

Until October 2019, he worked as a Specialist Physician and Organ and Tissue Transplant Coordinator in the General Surgery Service of Gülhane Training and Research Hospital.

During this period, he performed cadaver and living donor kidney transplants. It was certified by the Turkish Colon and Rectum Surgery Association in 2021 with a board (proficiency) certificate.
